Reel Lawn Mowers

Reel mowers are recommended for lawns under 8,000 square feet, and if
you've reduced your lawn areas, most lawns in the City of Falls Church are
definitely small enough to mow with one. They're quiet. They're great
exercise. The new ones work really well and require little maintenance. AND
THEY DO NOT CREATE AIR OR NOISE POLLUTION. The emissions from a
gas mower running for an hour is about the same as driving a car for five
hours!

We mow our front and back lawn on our 1/8 acre lot (with reduced lawn
areas, of course) in less than half an hour. And we feel good afterward --
no gas fumes, no ringing in the ears, no cords to trip over or batteries to
charge, no big, heavy machine to cram back into the shed. Can you tell I
really like the reel lawn mower we bought last summer? Now that we
haven't used our electric mower in a year, we've donated it.

Here's some information on reel mowers. We got ours for around $100 at
Sears (made by the American Lawnmower Company), but before we
bought locally, we did research at these (and other) websites. I found out
after we bought ours that Brown's Hardware sells or can order the
American Lawn Mower brands.
