Recycling in the City of Falls Church
Thanks to the efforts of the City's excellent Recycling Coordinator, the recycling program is one of the most successful environmental programs in the City of Falls Church. The recycling program saves the City tens of thousands of dollars each year in reduced trash hauling fees and the City is paid for all of the mixed paper, cardboard, and newspaper that is recycled! You can help by making sure your bin is properly prepared each week.
Following are the City's guidelines for a properly prepared recycling bin:
- Rinse all caps, bottles, and jars.
- Remove caps or lids from cans and bottles. (Put plastic caps in the trash. Tuck metal lids into cans for recycling.)
- Include only plastic jugs and bottles -- NO OTHER PLASTICS!
- Flatten all cardboard boxes. Fold or cut them to 2 feet or less. (Bring larger pieces of cardboard to the Falls Church Recycling Center on Gordon Rd.)
- Put all newspaper, cardboard, and mixed paper in a paper bag or bundle them together with twine (not loose in the bin).
If you still have questions about proper preparation of your recycling bin, contact the City's Recycling Coordinator at 703.248.5176.
