Composting
Composting makes sense and can save you
dollars and time. By composting your yard
waste, you can avoid the trouble and cost
of buying peat moss, bagged mulch, and
bagged manure and fertilizer. Also,
composting greatly reduces the amount of
waste sent to landfills while returning critical
organic matter to your property's soil. The
soil in most of our yards in Falls Church is
compacted clay, which means that it is
greatly in need of organic matter to break it
up and support beneficial organisms.

In addition, free classes are offered at the
City of Falls Church Backyard Composting
Demonstration Site at Cavalier Trail Park
each spring and fall. Contact the City's
